Zero FX Overview: Lightweight and Dirt-Friendly

The Zero FX, known for being the lightest and most dirt-friendly electric motorcycle in the Californian company’s lineup, boasts a mere 289-pound weight, making it suitable for both off-road adventures and urban commuting. Its narrow build, upright ergonomics, and electric silence contribute to its versatile appeal.

Purpose Built Moto’s Vision: Aesthetic Revamp for Zero FX

While the Zero FX excels in performance, its utilitarian appearance leaves room for improvement. Australia’s Purpose Built Moto (PBM) takes on the challenge, infusing their custom expertise to elevate the bike’s aesthetics. This project, part of PBM’s electric-only collaboration with the Australian Electric Motor Co., aims for a stunning transformation.

Customization Details: From Wheels to Bodywork

PBM’s team enhances the Zero FX’s design by swapping its dirt-friendly wheels for lightweight 17″ cast hoops from Zero’s stock. Finished in gloss black with Ducati Hypermotard-inspired stripes, the wheels now roll on Pirelli Diablo Rosso tires. The most significant modification involves crafting new alloy bodywork, meticulously shaped by hand to seamlessly connect the bike’s front and back.

Electrifying Illumination: Purpose Built Moto’s Touch

Tom and his team, leveraging Tom’s background as an electrical engineer, introduce Purpose Built Moto’s 5.75″ ‘Flashpoint’ headlight, supported by custom brackets and an aluminum nacelle. The front showcases a custom fender, harmonizing with the forks. Moving back, the meticulously designed ‘tank’ shrouds complement the fender, giving the bike a factory-designed aesthetic.

Aggressive Transformation: Seat Pan and Cockpit Upgrade

To enhance the bike’s aggressiveness, PBM fabricates a custom seat pan, upholstered by Timeless Auto Trim. The higher, flatter seat offers improved maneuverability while riding. The crew strategically lowers the seat mounting point without extensive frame modifications. The rear receives a similar no-frills treatment with a slender fender, angular side panels, and distinctive PBM three-in-one LED taillights.

Cockpit and Handling Upgrade: Rider-Centric Adjustments

PBM improves the bike’s handling by fitting lower handlebars, new grips, and relocating the dashboard. This reshaped cockpit, combined with the redesigned seat, delivers a more aggressive and in-control riding experience.

Finishing Touch: Pop Bang Classics’ Bold Livery

Justin at Pop Bang Classics provides the final touch with a modern and bold white, bone grey, and high-viz livery. The tasteful pin-striping over the fenders adds a distinct visual appeal to this transformed electric supermoto.
