Can-Am’s highly-anticipated return to the world of two-wheeled vehicles is nearing reality, and after a year of speculation, the company has finally unveiled key details about their new electric motorcycles. While specific specs, pricing, and performance figures are still under wraps, the focus has shifted to the confirmed production dates and some intriguing features.

Testing and Launch Dates

Can-Am has officially started testing real-world prototypes of the Can-Am Origin and Pulse models. They’ve even released a video showcasing these machines in action on public roads. Though details remain scarce, the brand has confirmed that final specifications for both bikes will be revealed next summer, aligning with the expected order availability. Customers can anticipate getting their hands on these new bikes by the end of 2024, marking a significant milestone for Can-Am’s motorcycle division.

Manufacturing Facility Progress

Construction of the new all-electric manufacturing facility in Mexico, initially announced with groundbreaking plans, is progressing as scheduled. The facility is expected to be fully operational by the previously stated target date, which signifies that Can-Am is on track with their ambitious production plans.

Innovative Features Revealed

Detailed photos of the prototypes provide valuable insights into what riders can expect from the new electric motorcycles. One standout feature is the unique swing-arm housed electric motor, a groundbreaking innovation for production motorcycles. This assembly, designed with a sealed unit driving the rear wheel via a belt and an internal oil bath for lubrication, hints at a promising performance.

LinQ Accessory Mounting System

The prototypes also reveal the integration of Can-Am’s proprietary “LinQ” accessory mounting system. LinQ, known for its tool-free modular attachment points, offers convenience in adding and removing factory accessories. On the Can-Am Origin, LinQ points are distributed around the bike’s headlight and dashboard, suggesting the availability of various factory options such as windscreens, rally fairings, and navigation mounts. This system’s versatility could potentially extend to rear racks and luggage mounts, following the precedent set by Can-Am’s UTV lineup.

Ample Storage Space

Notably, both the Can-Am Origin and Pulse feature a substantial storage “frunk” in the location traditionally reserved for a gas tank on internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles. This unique storage solution promises added convenience for riders, enabling them to transport items without the hassle of removing their gloves.

Final Testing and Feedback

As Can-Am prepares for final production, they are actively seeking feedback from a select group of test riders. According to the release, the bikes are described as “powerful, smooth, and thrilling,” raising expectations for what’s to come. With these key details and innovative features revealed Can-Am enthusiasts have even more reason to anticipate the launch of the Can-Am Origin and Pulse electric motorcycles.
