The 2023 Japan Mobility Show is just around the corner, and Yamaha is set to make a significant impact with a range of exciting vehicles and innovations. Here, we delve into five fascinating things that Yamaha is bringing to this prestigious event.

Yamaha’s Unique Vehicle Classifications

Yamaha has chosen to categorize its vehicles on display as “reference vehicles” rather than “concepts.” This distinction sets the stage for a lineup that includes “special exhibits” and collaborations with Yamaha Corporation, as well as clear classifications like “competition machine,” “upcoming production vehicle,” and “production vehicle.”

World Premieres: A Focus on Two and Three-Wheelers

Among the six world premiere vehicles, Yamaha is showcasing four remarkable two- and three-wheelers. The Motoroid2, an evolution of the 2017 concept, takes personal mobility to a new level with features like facial recognition and self-balancing. The Tricera, an electric vehicle with three-wheel steering, offers a fresh take on the Polaris Slingshot. The ELove introduces self-balancing technology through Yamaha’s Advanced Motorcycle Stabilization Assist System (AMSAS). Lastly, the E-FV, or EFV, is an “Electric Fun Vehicle” minibike with Yamaha’s Active Sound Control technology.

TMW Offroad Three-Wheeler: A Unique Offering

While not a world premiere, the TMW offroad three-wheeler is a notable addition to Yamaha’s booth. It employs Yamaha’s proprietary leaning multi-wheel technology, making it the off-road cousin of models like Tricity and Tritown.

Motoroid2: A Lifelike Riding Experience

The Motoroid2 has evolved to become a personal mobility vehicle with the ability to recognize its owner, rise from its kickstand, and interact with riders in a lifelike manner. Yamaha achieves this through its “Active Mass Center Control System” (AMCES), enhancing self-balancing and facial recognition technologies. Yamaha’s goal is to create a human/motorcycle hybrid experience.

ELove: Self-Balancing Advancements

Yamaha’s ELove introduces the Advanced Motorcycle Stabilization Assist System (AMSAS) for self-balancing on two wheels. This technology enhances safety, particularly at slow speeds or when stationary. It aligns with the industry’s pursuit of a safer and more accessible riding experience.

E-FV: The “Electric Fun Vehicle”

TMW: Off-Road Adventure with Yamaha

The TMW was born from the inventive minds at Yamaha Motorcycle Testing Division. It combines a leaning multi-wheel setup with enhanced off-road capabilities. Featuring independent front-wheel movement and a hybrid engine setup, the TMW is designed for stability and adventure in various terrains.

Yamaha’s presence at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show promises to be a showcase of innovation and creativity in the mobility industry.
