Meet Jerrick Chow, the ArtCenter College of Design Student Who Transforms Super 73 Bikes into Sleek, Agile Machines

Jerrick Chow is not your average car designer. By day, he studies at ArtCenter College of Design, where he learns to craft stunning concept vehicles that push the boundaries of mobility. But by night, he turns his attention to Super 73 electric bikes, which he modifies into sleek and agile machines that are as visually striking as they are fun to ride. He believes in the go-get-it mindset and works to create his designs unique.

So, what drew Chow to Super 73 bikes in the first place? In his own words, “Super 73 caught my eye for having a very simple and user-friendly design. There is a lot of potential in customizing it with multiple mounting points and a very simple package.”

Chow’s love for Super 73 bikes is evident in his stunning custom builds. Take his work on the S2 model, for example. Chow reimagined the character of the bike, giving it a sleeker and more unique look. He emphasized the speed and agile riding characteristics by using clip-on handlebars to make the riding position more aggressive. 

Chow’s modifications didn’t stop there. He angled the character line forward to make the bike look fast, added dual headlights for a unique and iconic look, and lengthened the bike with a longer rear fairing to balance the visual weight.

And the best part? Chow creates all of the original parts for his custom builds himself, designing, modeling, and 3D printing them in-house. This small but impressive move ensures quality control and provides him a platform to create as many customizations as he wants. While Chow currently focuses on e-bikes, he’s also a motorcycle rider and plans to tackle gasoline bikes in the future. But for now, he’s inspired by the people around him, from surfers to pilots to artists, who push the boundaries of what’s possible. 

As for what’s next for Chow, he says he may spend more time customizing e-bikes and manufacturing purchasable products so that people can enjoy the experience. So no new brand coming up there just yet! And with his eye for design and passion for Super 73 bikes, we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.
