RGNT teams up with Crooked Motorcycles to bring EV Custom X Crooked E-Type

The Crooked E-Type, an electrifying creation born from the collaboration of RGNT Motorcycles and Crooked Motorcycles, embodies a combination of timeless design and cutting-edge technology. This EV, developed in Crooked’s workshop near Munich, exhibits a peak power of 21 kW, allowing it to comfortably reach 75 mph. This impressive all-electric motorbike provides an opportunity to explore the great outdoors with its Continental TKC 80 tires, offering excellent grip and durability on a variety of terrains.

This project marks the merging of RGNT Motorcycles and German customized bike builders Crooked Motorcycles, as they join forces to launch the stylish Crooked E-Type EV. The team at Crooked worked on this EV custom project inside their workshop near Munich, while the Swedish electric motorcycle manufacturer RGNT Motorcycles took the lead on the technical aspects. This joint venture was showcased at the highly anticipated Bike Shed London Show, capturing the attention of motorcycle enthusiasts worldwide with this extraordinary custom bike.

In the last weekend in May, this first EV project by Crooked Motorcycles was unveiled at the Bike Shed London Show. The E-Type electric, a radical departure from Crooked’s previous ventures, embodies their classic, minimalist aesthetic combined with high-end electrical components. The collaboration marked a significant milestone for both RGNT and Crooked Motorcycles, as they stepped into the EV realm.

This successful collaboration was born out of a shared passion for custom design and style. Dominikus Braun, CEO and creator of Crooked Motorcycles, had expressed his admiration for RGNT’s bikes at the Intermot last October, leading to talks with their team. Impressed by the classic look and streamlined structure of RGNT’s models, the decision to collaborate on this first electric custom project was made swiftly.

The Electric Scrambler

To bring the Crooked E-Type to life, Dominikus and his team began with an RGNT No. 1 Scrambler SE donor bike. They drew inspiration from their successful Crooked XS400-series, adhering to a design principle of simplicity. In a new approach, the subframe was redesigned using CAD, allowing for easier replication in future projects. The electrical modules were neatly tucked away within the triangle frame, providing a minimalist and clean appearance. They cleverly placed the converter unit inside the seat and designed a cable duct within the frame triangle for cable protection. The rear was raised by three centimeters, supported by new YSS springs, and covered with 3D-printed fork covers.

Further enhancements were made to the custom bike, with high-quality components being a key focus. Black rims fitted with Continental TKC 80 tires were chosen to complement the bike’s aesthetic. The team also installed a sleek Bates-style LED headlight featuring Motogadget blaze turn signals, and a Supernova LED brake/rear light to complete the look.

Gideon Schipaanboord, Head of Marketing at RGNT, commended the dedication and craftsmanship displayed by Dominikus and his team at Crooked. The completion of the Crooked E-Type within a mere six weeks was an extraordinary achievement, made possible by their tireless commitment. In addition to showcasing this all-electric custom bike at the Bike Shed London Show, RGNT and Crooked Motorcycles were also delighted to announce the availability of their standard bikes for purchase in the UK and Europe.

This collaboration between RGNT and Crooked Motorcycles represents a remarkable fusion of expertise and innovation. The Crooked E-Type EV stands as a testament to their shared vision and commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric motorbike design. With its classic aesthetics and high-end components, this EV is set to redefine what an electric scrambler can be.
