The Star Wars-Inspired Creation

In his most recent endeavor, James drew inspiration from the iconic Star Wars franchise. With unwavering determination, he embarked on a remarkable journey to transform hoverboard parts into a side-riding Star Wars speeder bike. This ambitious project put his skills to the test and resulted in a creation that was a direct evolution of his earlier work—the omni-wheel bike.

The Genesis of the Omni-Wheel Bike

The initial phase of this adventure began with the creation of the Omni-wheel bike, constructed from hoverboard components. The concept behind this bike was to enable sideways movement, a remarkable 90-degree shift relative to the rider. While the hoverboard’s sensors handled the balancing act, controlling such large-scale sideways movement proved to be a nightmarish challenge. Faced with this obstacle, James had to take a new approach and transform the project into something entirely different.

The Birth of the Star Wars Speeder

It was during this transformation that James conceived the idea of crafting a Star Wars Speeder. By upgrading the bike with jet thrusters, he brought this iconic vehicle to life. Initially, he had envisioned utilizing the hoverboard’s sensors and motors to facilitate movement. However, this approach proved impractical. Consequently, James opted for a conventional handlebar setup, allowing the speeder not only to move left and right with ease but also to tilt sideways.

Adding Control and Theme

The handlebar was equipped with a throttle to regulate the speed of the jet thrusters, which spun at a remarkable pace. With the integration of an Arduino controller, James successfully streamlined the movement of the speeder. The final touch involved adorning the inventive ride with a Star Wars theme. However, there was one slight limitation—the speeder couldn’t launch itself from a standstill. It still required the classic push to get going.
