A Pandemic Escape to Utah

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dylan and his fiancée sought refuge in southern Utah, where they embarked on a journey filled with adventure and innovation. During their stay, they cultivated crops, explored rugged slot canyons on foot, rode challenging terrain trails on bicycles, and even dabbled in creating electric bikes from assorted parts. However, unsatisfied with the results, their journey ultimately led Dylan to develop the Terra Bike – a unique low-powered motorcycle.

Terra Bikes’ Colorado Headquarters

The Terra Bike project found its home in Colorado, where the frames of these remarkable electric motorcycles are assembled amidst the breathtaking backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. Dylan’s vision for Terra Bikes is clear: “We aim to produce the most accessible electric motorcycle on the market. Our bikes are designed with standard axle sizes and commonly used mountain bike components, making replacement or upgrades a breeze. Furthermore, we prioritize quality by incorporating metal elements throughout our design.”

Terra Bike Specifications

The Terra Bike is classified as a low-powered vehicle, akin to a moped or a 50cc bike, with a power output of less than 4.5 kW. Depending on your location within the U.S., it may only require a standard driver’s license for operation. It boasts essential features such as lights, indicators, horn, and brake lights, all meeting DOT standards. To register it, all you need to do is schedule an inspection with your local highway patrol.

The Core Components

At the heart of the Terra Bike lies its robust frame, constructed from 1″ 4130 Chromoly tubing, a rugged and durable material, housing a sealed 5052 Aluminum battery box.

Powered by an electric mid-drive motor paired with an efficient 420 chain, it offers remarkable hill-climbing capabilities while maintaining a modest top speed of 55 mph. The direct chain drive ensures smooth and reliable power transfer.

The Terra Bike is fully compliant with DOT regulations, ensuring you can ride it both on and off-road without any legal obstacles. All the lights, including the head, tail, and indicator lights, draw power from the 12V main battery pack, simplifying maintenance with only one battery to manage.
