Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) is set to make a historic entry into the world of electric motocross with the CR ELECTRIC PROTO. This groundbreaking electric motorcycle will take center stage at the D.I.D All Japan Motocross Championship 2023 Round 8, Saitama Toyopet Cup, competing in the IA1 class. The event is scheduled for October 28 and 29 at Off Road Village in Kawagoe, Saitama Prefecture. In a remarkable move, Trey Canard, the 2010 AMA Pro Motocross 250 class champion and current team advisor for American Honda Motor Co., Inc., will take the reins of the CR ELECTRIC PROTO as part of Team HRC.

Honda’s Electric Dirt Bike Journey

Honda’s exploration of electric dirt bikes has been an evolving story. It all began back in 2017 with the intriguing Mugen-Honda E-Rex concept bike. Subsequently, in 2019, this concept received an update, fueling excitement among enthusiasts. However, it was in April 2019, at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show in Japan, when Honda’s electric endeavor truly captured the world’s attention.

The CR ELECTRIC PROTO Unveiled

The spotlight shifted to Honda’s electric dirt bike, the CR ELECTRIC PROTO, which was showcased at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show in April 2019. This groundbreaking machine marked Honda’s significant step into the world of electric motocross. Over the years, the company has been diligently developing the CR ELECTRIC PROTO behind closed doors, fine-tuning its performance and features.

Trey Canard, a legendary figure in the motocross world and the 2010 AMA Pro Motocross 250 class champion, will be in the saddle of the CR ELECTRIC PROTO during its racing debut. His extensive experience and expertise in motocross racing make him the perfect candidate to demonstrate the capabilities of this revolutionary electric motocrosser.
