Cruise, General Motors (GM), and Honda recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a joint venture focused on providing a driverless ride-hailing service in Japan. Their plan includes an initial rollout in central Tokyo, set to commence in early 2026.

Subject to regulatory approvals, the three companies anticipate commencing testing in 2024, with a goal to commercialize the service by early 2026.
